What are Google Apps Extensions?

Google Apps Extensions are third-party add-ons available to all Google Apps customers. The third-party extensions add functionality to Google Apps and enhance the overall administrator and end-user experience within the suite. Just as Chrome extensions complement the existing functionalities of the Chrome web browser, Google Apps Extensions make operating in Google Apps a more seamless, enjoyable and productive experience. With hundreds of extensions already available in the Google Apps Marketplace, tasks that used to be completed using desktop software can now be handled within the browser by leveraging extensions, enabling more dynamic, collaborative and productive experiences.

What is FlashPanel?

We’re just as excited about the cloud as anyone, but IT administrators often miss some of the account oversight provided to them by legacy email systems. To ameliorate this problem, BetterCloud created FlashPanel, our Google Apps extension for user management and administration. Currently in beta, FlashPanel is an administrative tool that adds enriched oversight and management capabilities to your company’s Google Apps domain.

Typically used by system administrators to facilitate IT management tasks such as managing groups and contacts, setting email controls and delegating administrative duties, FlashPanel bridges the gaps in the Google Apps platform by providing IT admins a centralized management dashboard and a user-friendly interface. FlashPanel’s main features include:

  • User management tools like bulk user update, group and org. unit creation, deprovisioning workflow and  shared contacts management
  • Email Tools like the ability to standardize and schedule email signatures, apply labels, filters and forwarding remotely as well as the ability to delegate an inbox remotely and monitor incoming outgoing email, drafts and on the record chats
  • Security tools like Google Drive asset overview, sharing policy creation and reset password policies

How to Install FlashPanel

To install FlashPanel, just visit the Google Apps Marketplace listing and click “Add It Now”, which will take you through the installation process (note: you must be a Super Administrator for your Google Apps domain).
